Why Men Need Their Proteins
|
Protein is one of the essential nutrients needed by the body. However, most men do not pay attention to the amount of protein they are getting. Consequently, they know nothing about the adverse effects of having very little protein intake. Being essential in many areas for the good functioning of the body, protein must be part of every man's diet.
Here are some of the significant reasons men should get their regular and healthy dose of protein:
- For men who want to shed those excess pounds, an increase in protein intake is needed. This may sound paradoxical, but protein is necessary to burn down body fats, to help digestion, as well as to repair body tissues resulting from exercise or even from injuries. Moreover, building up body muscles is impossible without sufficient intake of protein.
- Protein is also necessary for every cell in the body from the hair to the brain. Because protein is needed by the basic unit of the body, it is no surprise that it is essential for both external and internal health. The skin needs it to be healthy and good looking while the tissues in the body need it for good health.
- Protein is also needed by men for the production of enzymes and hormones related to sexual performance. Testosterone is one of the common hormones whose production depends on the amount of protein in the body.
- Semen and sperm production is also dependent on the amount of protein a man gets. As a matter of fact, semen is largely protein. Moreover, once ability to conceive as well as the health of the sperm is critical to conception.
- Because muscles depend on protein for good health, so does locomotion. This is why children who are deficient in protein are often sluggish and pale-looking.
- Most biochemical reactions in the body are impossible without the aid of protein. From digestion to boosting the immune system, protein plays a key role in good health for men.
- The ability of the blood to transport nutrients throughout the body depends on the amount of protein a man takes.
- Neurons and neurotransmitters need protein to transmit and receive signals from and to the different parts of the body. Proteins are also needed by men to properly direct cell when to react to a certain stimulus.
- Blood production is also a bodily process that requires a large intake of protein.
But if protein is essential to the body, one must remember that it is the only macronutrient that the body does not store. However, this doesn't mean that one should be taking protein shots regularly. What is more important is to make sure that a man obtains protein from fresh and natural sources to get them at their best. On the other hand, nutritionists caution people that taking too much of protein may actually harm the body. In particular, taking too much protein causes the body to expel the calcium it takes in.
