Bar Foods Men Should Stay Away From
|
Bar foods are rarely healthy because that's not what they were meant for in the first place. More often than not, such foods are designed to go down with booze, which says a lot about their effects to health. So unless you want your life to be on a downward spiral suffering from health problems, it is better to stay away from some of the tempting foods found in most bars. This group of foods includes the following:
- Let's start from the very food that differentiates bars from restaurants: alcohol. Beer, vodka, whiskey, and rum are all nothing more than fancy names to getting sick. So unless you are feeling lucky, make sure to stay away from these drinks.
- Notice that each bar has their own signature drink-something only the bar offers and not found in the competitors. Notice also that these drinks are very attractive in their color and come with fancy names. Well, they are doing this because mixed cocktails are lousy excuses to get in something unhealthy to your body. Most such drinks have very high calorie content and extremely high sugar levels. This is not really surprising given the fact that a cocktail mix can have as many as ten ingredients. Tempting as they are, think of them as just a poison in an attractive package.
- Although a bottle or two of beer may be good for the body, make sure not to follow the man who just can't determine when the last bottle for the road would come. If there are other drinks available, it may be a wise decision to bypass beer. Beers are rich in calorie, and some are so packed with sugar.
- Most bars offer their own specialty burger. However, not all bars are the same when it comes to the nutritional content of their burgers. Choose hamburgers that contain freshly cooked meat, not the ones that contain mayonnaise and loads of cheese. Some restaurants offer hamburgers for vegetarians; instead of meat, tofu is used as patty.
- Some fried foods in bars come with their own dipping sauce. This is the case with squid rings and other similar foods. So what should men avoid? The rule here seems that the creamier the sauce looks, it is better to avoid them. Creamy sauces are usually combinations of several ingredients that one never really knows what damage they can do to a man's health in combination with other ingredients.
- Bars serving chicken especially chicken wings? Avoid them. Chicken wings are rich in calorie; and combined with the manner they are cooked, which is usually fried, the negative effects is too predictable.
Some foods in most bars are not really bad for the health if consumed in moderation. However, because most of these foods are taken with alcohol, the negative effects to the body are amplified. This is what makes most bar foods and drinks bad for man's health. However, if one knows how to discipline himself, there shouldn't be much of a problem.
